The state of California in America lies on the west coast, and is the third largest state in the country. As a holiday location it has a lot to offer visitors being home to many wonderful cities such as Los Angeles, San Francisco and Palm Springs.

Visitors to California have a wealth of interesting places to visit, and there are many exciting things going on here all year round. The state is well known for its warm weather and wonderful beaches, but there’s so much more to it than that. A few of the places you could visit are:

Hollywood Walk of Fame
Famous people and famous places that’s what Hollywood is all about and where better to find all this in Hollywood than its walk of fame where you can step into the footprints of not just one, but many stars who have been immortalised here.

Death Valley
Experience the haunting beauty of this unique landscape with its endless sand dunes and multi-coloured rock layers all backed by a wonderful scene of snow capped mountains.

The Golden Gate Bridge
The soaring towers and majestic steel span of this iconic bridge have been seen in so many films and shows that we all feel we know the Golden Gate Bridge. However, once you’re there in the San Fransisco Bay, you really feel the power and beauty of its size.

Laguna Beach
One of California’s most famous beach scenes, Laguna beach is the place to go for a little elegance in a laid back atmosphere. Its shopping and fine dining all the way, and all punctuated with a background of wonderful oceanscape.

Legoland & Sealife
Legoland in San Diago has over 60 rides, shows and attractions, and offers plenty of family fun for a great day out, and with the Sealife Aquarium right next door, you could easily spend a day or two enjoying these two exciting treats.

Disneyland
What trip to California would be complete without a visit to the Magic Kingdom? This iconic theme park has so many rides and shows to offer that a single day is almost never enough time to enjoy it and their latest Pirates of the Caribbean ride offers a great new adventure too.

Venice Beach
Home to body builders and skaters, artists and musicians, the famous boardwalk here is one of Los Angeles most exciting and eclectic scenes.

Joshua Tree National Park
This bewitching park is filled with bizarre rock formations that make it a great place for rock climbing as well as of course the surreal Joshua Trees. It’s a great place to camp out and enjoy the wild flowers that bloom here in springtime.

Flights to California leave daily from most UK airports which offer cheap flights to Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco

Cheap Holidays and Trips Abroad

Having a cheap trip abroad on a budget means focussing on getting the best deal possible in terms of where you go and what you get for your money. Most of the time, if you’re looking to travel abroad for your trip then the best place to look is Europe.

Finding the best deal often means looking for last minute deals, or booking a long way ahead, however even with doing this, if you want the best possible deal you may want to narrow your search a bit more.
There are some places within Europe which are very definitely cheaper to travel to at the moment than others, and by combining picking the right location with searching for the right deal, you can hope to bag a real bargain.

Cyprus
Known as Aphrodites birthplace, Cyprus is traditionally seen as a convenient stepping stone between Europe and the Middle East. Cypriots are well known for their hospitality and along with their warm welcome you’ll find blue skies and sunshine all the year long here. Although not the cheapest location in Europe for a summer holiday, in April you might stay here self catering from just £129 per person for a week, while in October £209 would be the cheapest you could expect to find.

Majorca
This wonderful island has lots to offer anyone holidaying here, sun, sea and loads of exciting entertainment opportunities too. If you search around, you can find the odd really good bargain, and the best we found in late June was £119 per person self catering or all inclusive from £175 per person for 7 nights.

Corfu
This enchanting island covered with olive groves and cypress trees and fringed with sandy beaches makes for a lovely relaxing holiday whether you are young or old, and seven nights here self catering in May would cost from £119 per person or in June the same sort of holiday would be available from £184.

Portugal
Getting here is cheap, staying here is cheap, and travelling around and living expenses are pretty cheap too. If you wanted to go to the Algarve for seven nights self catering in late May, you could manage this from as little as £90 per person. For a half board option, you could find something from £115 per person meaning that your breakfast and dinner would be costing you £25 per day which isn’t bad.

Spain
Ibiza in Spain is well known for its holiday atmosphere, and if you wanted to travel here towards the end of May, you could be lucky and stay self catering for seven nights from £104 per person, or you could choose half board for the same length of time from £122.
